I fell in love with some of these beautiful antique typewriters. If you’re a sucker for vintage stuff as well, make sure to check out Martins Flickrstream or his website for more information on these amazing pieces. There is even a shop where you can get some prints.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing my collection with your readers. It always feels great when these remarkable machines excite others.

There is a remarkable collective experience that we have towards typing and a strong nostalgia for the typewriter, as a physical and emotional symbol of writing. It is therefore not surprising that these early typewriters resonate with us today.

    Happy typing,
    Martin Howard

Absolutely stunning. They look like Rube-Goldberg machines next to InDesign sitting here, open, on my Mac.

Wouldn’t you love to get a “hand-typed” letter from someone in the mail? Now that’s a great service someone might try :)

…100% cotton rag paper, with slightly malformed Courier or other slab typeface, over-struck with ever-so-slight variances in keystroke pressure…and a little white out.

    :)
